Bill C-51and C-52
As most of you are aware by now, the government of Canada has been quietly trying to push through a bill that will make producing, selling, purchasing without prescription, using or even being in possession of what they term "therapeutic products", illegal. These products will include vitamins, supplements, herbs, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, aromatherapy oils and much, much more. Many of us by now have read and tried to make sense of this bill, but it is written with such vague language that not even the NHPC (Natural Health Practitioners of Canada) or CAND (Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors) can fully make sense of. This could mean one of two things: either we have nothing to worry about because the bill does specifically state some of the interpretations that have been circulating. Or more likely, it has been worded in such a way intentionlly so as to confuse the public so that we don't know what it is we're speaking out against. From what I have seen in the media and video excerpts of discussions in parliament, this latter options is most likely. If the government did not plan to take away our freedom to choose, one would think that someone would have come out openly and told the Canadian public what the bill truly means. This has not happened. Between this blatant avoidance of facing the harsh criticism that is being directed at the government of this bill, and the fact that up until April, this bill was unknown to the public. The government did not want us to know about the passing of this bill until it was too late. Fortunately, it was found out before that happened and the bill has been temporarily stalled because of the huge public outcry against the passing of this bill. Have you noticed though, that there has been little or NO media coverage of this issue? Given the history of this bill, it is highly unlikely that this is an accident. It would not surprise me if the media is being told not to talk about this issue by the government. Why else would such a hot topic of discussion in the public, not being talked about in the media? On the news last week, they had a report on the "true" effectiveness of natural health products, and they basically slandered the herb and supplement industry as saying that the majority of the products out there, just don't do anything. In my opinion (bear in mind, I could be wrong about this), there is no coincedence that news reports like this are being pushed in the media while the C-51 debate is hot, and not the positive side of natural health products. A New Bill that No One Even Knows about - Bill C-52 It has also come to my attention recentely that there is another concern that Canadians don't even know about yet and its another similar bill - Bill C-52. This bill takes Bill C-51 even further by allowing the following: (excerpt from the webpage that is linked at the bottom of this article) • Bill C-52 abolishes the law of trespass thus allowing the State access onto private property without any legal recourse. • Bill C-52 allows the State to seize property without a Court order, without reporting the seizure to a Court, and for an indefinite period. • Bill C-52 allows the State to assume control over the movement of private property without a Court order and without a safety concern. • The search and seizure powers in Bill C-52 are probably unconstitutional for violating the right found in section 8 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to be free from unreasonable search and seizure. • Persons can be fined and have property forfeited to the State for administrative violations. Persons so charged have no right to have a Court determine their guilt or innocence. Guilt is determined by the Minister. From what I understand, bill C-51 is a smoke screen to take the attention off the one the government really wants to push through without any of us knowing about it. The bottom line is that both of these bills only serve the pharmaceutical companies that are behind pushing them through quietly. Only we can do anything to prevent this from happening, by writing letters to our political leaders saying that we as a country will not tolerate our government taking our legal rights away from us. We can also help by being proactive in sending healing light and love to the whole situation so that it resolves itself with grace, ease and beauty for the highest good of all concerned. If these bills are not what the divine plan has in mind, they will quietly disappear as quickly is they begun.
